Under the direction of the Youth and Camp Ingersoll Director, the Assistant Youth and Camp Ingersoll Director is responsible and accountable for the development and implementation of the programs and activities outlined below for the Middlesex YMCA & YMCA Camp Ingersoll Outdoor Center.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Create, promote and facilitate youth enrichment programs including youth sports, 21st-century team building, and new youth enrichment classes (tumbling, STEAM, cardboard)
  • Schedule dates, assign staff, facilitate, and develop content for school, and business, rental groups
  • Run reports, contact and follow up with summer staff applicants to schedule interviews
  • Prepare the application, contact returning families, recruit new families, and file incoming applications for the R4C program
  • Monitor and Update Facebook, Instagram the camp website, and other social media outlets in order to create a connected, updated, and engaged camp family base. Includes coordinating posts with YMCA Communications Coordinator, creating events for monthly family days at camp, and issuing a monthly Camp Newsletter
  • Review, update, and create Specialty Camp Curriculums for all Specialty Camp Programs.
  • Directly supervise, evaluate, and support all Travel Camps and the Assistant Specialty Camp and Behavioral Support Director.
  • Evaluate and prepare program, and cost, analysis reports for all specialty camps in order to determine which camps to continue running, which to retire, and what to initiate
  • Assume a major area of responsibilities for the Day Camp program including, but not limited to: assisting with leadership meetings and open houses, the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and coordinating of all specialty camp programs.
  • Establish relationships and collaborations with local schools and public services to increase teen involvement through leadership, mentoring, and teen enrichment programs

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Attend and assist in facilitating all leadership meetings, open houses
  • Promote, manage and supervise Family Events and Programs.
  • Work toward YMCA Team Leader certification
  • Assist in the promotion and development of the facility membership program
  • Assist Director with new strategies for alumni engagement
  • Assist in establishing alternate sources of revenue such as grants and outside funding
Educational Background: 
Four-year college degree or within one semester of completion in a relevant area of study
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrates the Y’s core values at all times positively influencing program participants, staff and families
  • Builds relationships with community collaborators including donors, vendors, schools, and businesses
  • Communicates clear expectations and supports staff by providing growth opportunities while hold self and others accountable for reaching personal and organizational goals
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Programming experience with children, teens and adults
  • Experience in outdoor education and adventure programming
  • Staff management and supervision skills
  • Certified in lifeguarding (preferred), CPR and First Aid
  • Certified in high and low ropes course facilitation (within 6 mths of hire)
  • Able to work independently and professionally
  • Able to commit to flexible hours, especially in preparation for the summer
  • Is able to work every day in the summer

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
