Three volunteer opportunities to assist with the communications team is available in our Americas Regional Office, with two based in Mexico City and one in Lima. The volunteer will support the media and content managers in producing, scheduling and publishing content on our website and social media platforms to advance our regional strategy.

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate who is available ideally for a period of 6 months. Please note that this position is not paid (although a small stipend for food and transportation is provided) and does not directly lead to employment at Amnesty International. Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own visa's before arriving in Mexico/Lima, if required.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of national media contacts and foreign correspondents in priority countries
- Upload and publish press releases, blogs and other content related to the Americas on Amnesty International’s website.
- Support media outreach ahead of the launch of Amnesty reports and campaigns in the Americas.
- Monitor and evaluate Amnesty International’s impact in the media in the Americas, including social media and metrics.
- Support the Content Manager in scheduling content across the social media channels and gathering performance data.
- Support in managing and engaging with our social media audiences.
- Monitor social media trends and hook dates for content creation or curation.
- Interest in and knowledge about human rights issues in the Americas.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe suite, digital platforms, Google suite.
- Good inter-personal and communication skills for working in a diverse and multidisciplinary team.
- Great capacity for collecting, analysing and synthesising both qualitative and quantitative information.
- Ability to multi-task and to work proactively with minimum supervision.
- Willingness to undertake office work like photocopying, filing and archiving.
- Previous professional experience on human rights issues or the Americas region will be considered an asset, as will previous professional experience with media, campaigns or social media work.
