The Membership Director position is available at our East Jefferson YMCA, located just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana.
We are seeking candidates with previous experience in customer service, staff supervision, marketing and public relations. The ideal candidate will be able to represent the YMCA in the community as we grow our membership and program offerings at this location. Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people are essential to success as the Membership Director.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget. Manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with Metro staff, as necessary, on financial transactions.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events.
- Leads assigned aspects of fund-raising campaigns and special events.
- Supervises the Membership Services Representatives and other membership personnel and trains them in emergency procedures, and customer service skills.
- Oversees assigned programs.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of educaton and experience
Skills/Experience:
- Previous management experience, preferably in a YMCA or similar organization
- Excellent communication, sales and presentation skills
- Ability to establish and maintain business relationships with other organizations in the community.
Compensation/Benefits:
This position has a starting salary of $33,000 to $35,000/year and includes an excellent benefits package:
