Join the YMCA of Memphis & Mid-South team. The Downtown Fogelman YMCA is seeking a dynamic team member to join us in our growth endeavors.

The Senior Membership & Wellness Director is a vital part of our leadership staff team supervising the membership and in-branch childcare departments. This position provides major influence over the image, mission, and growth of our Y and will be responsible for all aspects of member experience for the branch including training, supervision, communication, recruitment, and retention. This position will also develop, plan and implement new procedures, methods to achieve strategic goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements membership strategies that support the recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.
    • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of
    • innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Implements lesson planning and program quality control for in-branch childcare that will ensure program participant growth and retention.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Supervises one full-time coordinator, and 10-15 part-time staff.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and in-branch childcare and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Ensures proper implementation of front desk & in-branch childcare procedures. Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the Association Support Center as necessary on financial transactions.
  • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the Annual Campaign.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
  • Will provide supervision of membership and in branch child watch departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous supervisory experience in sales or customer service role preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments ofthe community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
