The Senior Program Director is a vital part of our leadership staff team supervising the membership and wellness departments. This position provides major influence over the image, mission, and growth of our Y and will be responsible for all aspects of member experience for the branch including training, supervision, communication, recruitment and retention. This position will also develop, plan and implement new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Supervises one full time coordinator, two part time coordinators and 60-65 part time staff.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and wellness departments and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the Association Support Center as necessary on financial transactions.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
- Leads assigned aspects of the Annual Campaign. Recruits and retains volunteers to assist in the Annual Campaign.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- Will provide supervision of membership and wellness departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Recognize and promote member service and retention as the primary responsibility of staff.
- Develop and implement comprehensive membership recruitment, marketing and retention plans.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Previous supervisory experience in sales or customer service role preferred.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Understand the relationship of the general public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.
Physical Demands:
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
