The Meadville YMCA is a long-standing, respected non-profit organization. The Y offers a wide variety of programs and services including child care, health & wellness, summer camp, aquatics and much more to address community needs at multipy locations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The board expects its CEO to lead the Y toward measurable excellence, with emphasis as follows:

  • Advocate the YMCA Vision within the Community: Proactively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, staff and volunteers. Serve as an ambassador for the mission and vision of the YMCA within the community as a respected leader with the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, while always upholding the highest values of the organization. 
  • Facility Management & Capital Improvements: Lead Y stakeholders through a planning process to identify, prioritize and fund facilities to better serve the community. Plan to include short and long-term goals for general maintenance, facility improvements/renovations and designing/building new facilities.  
  • Lead Fundraising Efforts: Serve as the leader in fundraising efforts by working with the board to establish a plan for how the Y will increase annual contributed dollars for operations and providing financial assistance as well as capital dollars for facility maintenance, renovations and expansion. Ensure public and private partnerships and resources are developed to support operational and future needs by instilling confidence, credibility, and trust in the Y with community leaders and donors.  
  • Build and Lead the Staff Team: Serve as a leader who can hire, motivate, engage and reward staff in a positive and productive manner. Lead by example; remain actively engaged in staff performance and development leading to superior results in programs, member satisfaction and community outreach and engagement. Maintain a culture of integrity, high ethical standards, and values. Have a good working knowledge of HR best practices including laws and regulations.
  • Continue Strengthening Operating Performance with a Focus on Fiscal Health: Assess the current operation and business model and create a plan that will continue to grow and retain membership as well as expand programs in response to community needs. Demonstrate success in the ability to understand fiscal opportunities, challenges and complexities and ensure the Y grows in its financial capacity. Successfully create and achieve plans, with measurable short and long-term goals.  
Educational Background: 
Accredited 4-year college degree (required/non-negotiable).
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization/company.
  • Proven successful track record of fiscal management for a complex organization more than $1M annually.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered and effective in broadening engagement in the community.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
  • Successful annual fundraising experience.

Preferred Candidate Criteria:

  • Experience in capital development; capital fundraising and facility development.   
  • Good working knowledge of HR best practices including laws and regulations.  
  • YMCA eferred Candidate Criteria:Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via Y-USA)
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary Range: $90,000-$105,000  

Benefits: Health care plan and vacation, as well as other benefits per the personnel policy. YMCA pays 10% retirement contribution per eligibility requirements
