This position will support the development and implementation of the Walk to End Alzheimer's® - Washington, DC through volunteer recruitment and engagement, fundraising, corporate development and team recruitment and engagement. Additionally, this position will oversee other Constituent Events and cultivation events as assigned.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for sharing responsibility with the Constituent Events Manager in achieving the recruitment and revenue goals for Walk to End Alzheimer's.
- Through volunteer networks, community outreach and networking, prospect, cultivate and steward Walk to End Alzheimer's teams, sponsors and walkers to help achieve goals.
- Support the Walk volunteer committee efforts by providing necessary reports and data, coaching and resources.
- Work closely with Constituent Events Manager and volunteer committee chairs and members to assist with community outreach, logistics, marketing, and in-kind sponsorship.
- Ensure smooth integration of the National Association best practices, standards and guidelines
- In conjunction with volunteers, develop and manage a year-round calendar of wrap around events that support the recruitment of volunteers, teams, fundraising and participant stewardship efforts of the Walk to End Alzheimer's – Washington, DC.
- Maintain relationships with walkers, teams and sponsors in assigned portfolio year-round and insure involvement in all relevant activities and recognition opportunities.
- Work to develop a new network of contacts within the community to garner community support.
- Manage the Walk website and all related setup, reports and information
- Support sponsorship solicitation and activation for the Walk to End Alzheimer's Washington, DC event and other events as assigned.
- Field incoming inquiries regarding Constituent Events and provide necessary information.
- Support logistics as assigned for Constituent Events.
- Support day of event activities as assigned for Constituent Events including but not limited to day of walk support such as set up, participant support, sponsor support and tear-down.
- Support other Constituent Events, including ALZ Stars events and committees as assigned including but not limited to Ride to Remember.
- Create and execute cultivation and stewardship events as needed such as the Wall of Hope Reception.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Skills/Experience:
- 1-3 years demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and coach volunteers in a fundraising environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships
- Demonstrated success in the support of large peer-to-peer fundraising events or similar programs
- Ability to sell the Association's programs and events to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual participants and volunteers
- Ability to support large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Ability to travel occasionally throughout the area
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent computer and research skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite of Apps preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including late evening and early morning work as needed and Saturdays and Sundays during Walk Season (September-October)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills; professional customer service skills with visitors, callers and volunteers
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Must have a car and valid driver’s license for travel off-site to events and meetings
- Must be able to bend, lift, carry, transport and set up a variety of print and event materials of up to 25 lbs.
- Proficiency in fundraising database software preferred (Luminate or similar software)
