Under the supervision of the District Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Sports Program Director is responsible for the leadership in the areas of Association Youth and Adult Sports, Pharr Y programs (gymnastics, dance, Pharr Y Summer Camp).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Hire, fire, train, supervise, and evaluate, all sports staff and Pharr program staff.
  • Develop and lead youth sports in the areas of soccer, tee-ball, flag football and basketball.
  • Develop and lead adult sports in the area of basketball and areas for additional adult programs
  • Develop and lead summer sports camp in areas listed above
  • Supervise and evaluate gymnastics, dance and art programs.
  • Develop and implement the budgets for stated departments.
  • Monitor monthly financials and report any mistakes or changes to supervisor
  • Attend all meetings as required
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining staff schedules and program schedules.
  • Responsible for payroll of Program staff
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date sports, programs and camp balances.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned at Stowe/Pharr branch.
  • Assist with the Stowe and Pharr special events.
  • Assist with Annual Giving Campaign. recruiting volunteers and thanking sports sponsors.
  • Communicate clearly, in the Y voice, and often with parents in stated programs.
  • Keep all social media avenues updated with sports information and program info – Website, Player space, Twitter, Facebook, Mobile App.
  • Promote all programs on a timely basis and ensure that the marketing materials are approved.
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two to four years of experience working with school-age children
  • Experience in youth sports
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Ability to write effective communication to parents and members
  • Must have strong professional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,600.00
