The Eckert James Bat Cave (EJBC) Assistant provides support to the Preserve Steward in all aspects of visitor relations at the Eckert James Bat Cave Preserve. The EJBC, located near Mason, Texas, is one of the largest bat nurseries in the country. This is a short-term (May-October 2019), part-time (10-15 hours per week) position. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Eckert James Bat Cave Assistant will help to coordinate and assist with tours at the Eckert James Bat Cave Preserve. They will provide information, collect waivers, ensure the safety of visitors, and other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • May coordinate and schedule preserve visitors.
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.     
  • Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain. 
  • Work involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazard’s where there is some possibility of injury.
  • Make day to day decisions as delegated by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
HS Diploma and 1 year experience.   
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience organizing files.                                                    
  • Experience in Customer Service.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience or knowledge of natural systems.
  • Ability to complete tasks within assigned timeframes, possibly in the absence of supervision.
