The Hopkins County Family YMCA recently completed its $2.2 million renovation project to provide our community with a welcoming and safe facility for generations to come.  We are looking for a responsible and engaged leader who has the desire to change lives and create lasting impact on youth and adults in Hopkins County and beyond.  You will be responsible for the development, implementation, administration, growth and evaluation of effective, innovative and safe aquatics and sports programs.The Director will employ staff across two departments and be actively engaged with participants of each program.  It is of high importance to listen to participants/staff and adjust in order to deliver the highest of quality programming.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Maintains a leadership presence at programs.Not expected to be at every single function.Professional look expected.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts focused upon established benchmarks including, but not limited to, the following measures by setting short term and long term agreed upon goal:(Developed with COO and approved by CEO)
  • Responsible for developing goals of enrollment for each season by researching past participant numbers
  • Responsible for surveying participants and parents of programs
  • Meet campaign goal through member/donor engagement.  All members must be aware we are a charity
  • Supports and participates in assigned aspects of the Annual Giving Campaign
  • Accept and complete any assignments as deemed appropriate by the COO and CEO.
  • Responsible for effective communication between departments
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience supervising and training staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups of people (both written and verbally) is critical.
  • Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications must be obtained within 30 days.
  • YMCA of the USA Lifeguard Instructor within 6 months
  • YMCA of the USA Swim Lesson Instructor within 6 months
  • YMCA of the USA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer within first year
  • MUST be accountable, coachable and able to adapt in fast pace environments
  • Understand and exemplify the YMCA mission "To put Christian Principles into practice through programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all"

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $31,000.00 - $35,000.00
