The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing and/or supporting all volunteer, intern and fellowship programs and activities within the Wisconsin business unit.
- The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for connecting people with nature and accomplishing Wisconsin’s strategic plan through coordinating volunteers, internships, fellowships and other people in relevant program areas.
- S/he initiates and/or assists in coordinating activities and special events run by staff and volunteers, including member field trips, preserve work parties, and corporate, board and other engagement activities.
- S/he coordinates all aspects of the volunteer, internship and fellowship programs, including recruitment, orientation, training, recognition, risk management, budgeting, program evaluation and improvement.
- S/he will coordinate projects with staff and leadership volunteers and maintain a volunteer database.
- S/he will work with colleagues to ensure continuity and quality of all volunteer, internship, and fellowship programs.
- The Outreach Coordinator serves as a point person for volunteers, interns, and fellows, and works cooperatively with Conservancy staff and members, as well as partner organizations, agencies and businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Coordinate multiple projects with several variables, setting realistic deadlines and managing a timeline;
- Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
- Purchase equipment and supplies as provided for in budget; may assist with budget preparation and monitoring;
- Identify routine problems and utilize existing resources for resolution;
- Make day-to-day decisions within the scope of work assignments;
- May supervise administrative staff and/or volunteers, interns, or temporary staff;
- Work independently without requiring detailed management review of general work;
- Willingness to travel around the state, undertake occasional evening work and 5-10 weekend days/year
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and physical exertion and/or strain.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading;
- Experience in organizing and managing a volunteer program or equivalent experience;
- Experience managing diverse activities to meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated success working and communicating with a wide range of people.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross cultural experiences are appreciated;
- 1 year experience in organizing and managing a volunteer program;
- Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts, and solving problems;
- Ability to write and edit written materials for use with member communications and special events;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the structure and needs required by a volunteer program;
- Database management skills with ability to produce reports;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Supervisory experience;
- Experience planning and coordinating events;
- Experience using social media.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."
Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
