The Madison Area YMCA is located in beautiful Morris County, NJ. We are looking for a creative professional to join our Marketing team.

This position is responsible for communications between Membership and Program Departments, Development and Marketing. The position serves members and the community, with the primary focus on marketing and communications between YMCA members and YMCA staff, with the goal of increasing membership awareness of programs and services and a deeper connection to the scope of our mission and impact on the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as the primary marketing contact for all Family Center program and membership promotions, including copywriting, print material, design and data entry for program guides, website management, member communications, and internal staff bulletins that are produced in-house and distributed to program teams, staff and posted in the facility in accordance with YMCA Branding.
  • Prepare and oversee the development and production of all Program Guides (4-5 times per year).
  • Responsible for collection of information from program and membership staff and under the direction of the Associate Marketing Director executing layout, design and production ensuring timely printing and distribution of program guides.
  • Creates project timeline and works with the program directors and membership team to ensure information is accurately reflected in the guides.
  • Prepare all registration support materials to promote each program session; including flyers, postcards, ads, blast emails and website updates.
  • Coordination of program pricing strategy with directors and senior directors to ensure organization-wide consistency.
  • Manages and supports the communications and marketing plans for membership campaigns and promotions and Open Houses.
  • Includes building online advertising, print advertising, direct mail, web presence and signage.
  • Coordinates, produces and designs member blast emails.
  • Offer ideas and insight into working with the Marketing Coordinator in order to help design plans to grow and engage audiences via social media channels.
  • Develops, maintains and updates all onsite marketing signage.
  • Works with department team under the direction of the Associate Marketing Director to ensure we are sharing updated information regarding programs, initiatives (Family Center, Kirby Center and Project Community Pride) campaigns, key mission messages and Y brand messages.
  • Manages flyer content, timing and facility placement.
  • Delivers expansion updates including communications, permanent signage, and donor acknowledgment boards.
  • Review and development of facility physical signage and marketing messaging within the facility.
  • Act as primary content liaison with Program and Department leaders for the Madison Area YMCA website and promotions.
  • Ensure membership, program, events, news and calendar-related content on website is updated and refreshed.
  • Produce copy updates ensuring brand compliance and readability.
  • Develops ideas for enhancements to website and works with Associate Marketing Director to explore, prioritize and make improvements as needed.
  • Audit website weekly; managing a schedule to produce fresh content for the website’s home page.
  • Works with Associate Marketing Director to participate in cross-department and marketing projects as needed. Examples of projects might include:
  • Creation of program protocol for flyers, internal education and implementation of enhancements.
  • Manages the production of camp guide and camp materials (e.g. forms and other camp collateral).
  • Assist in the process of content collection and development of Y stories and projects for media distribution.
  • Produces staff communications with oversight from the Associate Marketing Director.
  • Builds and manages videos and produced photo collections along with the Marketing Coordinator.
  • Placing orders for printed collateral with vendors.
  • Works to ensure ACTIVE Net links to website and updated mailing and email lists are pulled:
  • Ensures all links to ACTIVE Net via the website and in blast emails are correct.
  • Keeps contacts up to date from list pulls in ACTIVE Net. Updates and manages Constant Contact email contacts and pulls lists for direct mailings.
  • Communicates closings, both planned and unexpected to members, staff and community:
  • Ensures all members and staff receive updates to facility closings through many channels of communication.
  • Is lead along with coordination from Associate Marketing Director to communicate facility closings due to weather.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior customer service experience. Enjoy, be skilled at, and understand the importance of communications between members, staff, volunteers, and donors; creating a team environment.
  • 3+ years InDesign and Adobe Suite experience required, and managing projects to deadline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Friendly and positive disposition.
  • Excellent computer and phone skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the YMCA, its branding, mission and core values.
  • Maturity, judgment, diplomacy and discretion required.
  • High degree of accuracy with information provided, able to take initiative; effective organizational skills.
