The Accountant has broad responsibility for the day-to-day Chapter accounting and oversight of gift processing functions.  In addition to supporting the Regional Finance Director and the Executive Director, the Accountant works closely with the Development and Programs areas for purposes of coding, recording, invoicing, and tracking donations and grants.

This is a full-time position, located in Lynnwood, Washington, and reports to the Regional Finance Director. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for day to day operations of all general accounting functions for the chapter
  • Responsible for the Accounts payable function including preparation, entering, payment tracking and filing of the documents.
  • Monitor and reconcile Accounts receivable and Grants Receivable on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain required processes for compliance to Federal Grant Award requirements, prepare monthly invoices, tracks Grant Time Records, close-out reporting, desk audits and other fiscal duties.
  • Aids with month-end closing tasks, including general ledger entries and bank reconciliations, in collaboration with Regional Finance Director and Home Office.
  • Support the Regional Finance Director in planning and monitoring of budgets, preparing of various cost estimates, proposals, contract renewals and special projects as required.
  • Assist in preparation of required schedules and documentation for annual audit and 990.
  • Works with Executive Director and Regional Finance Director to develop and implement policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinates daily cash handling batches and oversees gift entry into Team Approach and reconciles Convio donor database to Team Approach.
  • Receives and reviews all Chapter corporate credit card reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency in coding.  Edits codes as necessary.
  • Ensures that data entry reports and hard copy forms are properly approved and received by home office by their deadline.
  • Researches and resolves various inquiries from staff, entering adjustments as necessary.
  • Attend chapter conferences as requested.
  • Support and participate in Association events, including but not limited to the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and A Reason to Hope.
  • Support and participate in formal advocacy and public policy activities.
  • Other Accounting tasks and reporting as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of experience in computerized accounting environment.
  • Demonstrated strength in managing accounts payable, general ledger and budgeting.
  • Experience with MAS500 or other similar accounting software preferred.
  • Working knowledge and or ability to become familiar with Uniform Grant Guidance as it relates to audit of states, local governments and Non-profit organizations.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, analytical, a good problem solver, and able to pay attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of developing and working with excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team; flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed to perform job duties.
  • Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance, and access to dependable automobile.
  • Physical activity is required on occasion; this may include long hours of standing and walking and some lifting/carrying of materials/supplies up to 25 pounds.
