The Branch Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing complete operations of the Jamerson Family YMCA, a 78,000 square ft. facility serving over 16,300 members, with a volume of over 500,000 scans per year and a budget of $4.5 million.

The Jamerson Family YMCA houses an 11,000 square ft. fitness center, two pools (an eight lane competition pool and a family pool with splash features), and a 5,600 square ft. Kidz Gym.  Additionally there is a 5,400 square ft. space dedicated to a hospital partnership; which is extremely important to the community and the YMCA of Central Virginia.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader with a strong ability to run all branch operations, and a creative focus on membership growth and retention of the membership base.  The ideal candidate will need proven experience in all aspects of branch operation:

  • High performing Staff Management and development
  • Fundraising
  • Budget Development
  • Fiscal Management
  • Community Outreach
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all Branch professional staff
  • Assist Branch’s professional staff in recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating all staff (clerical, maintenance and all part-time staff)
  • Provide leadership of volunteer development for annual campaign and program support.
  • Responsible for overall program growth/evaluation and development of innovative programs to meet strategic plan objectives of the Association.
  • Review and evaluate the programs, enrollment and services of the branch and share with branch leadership staff and CEO.
  • Provide leadership to the Branch plan to address community needs on short and long term and in accordance with strategic plan.
  • Responsible for carrying out branch goals and objectives in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Responsible for implementation of policies, goals and priorities, standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for annual budget development, monthly monitoring and year-end forecast.
  • Responsible for securing sufficient revenue to provide programs that match the strategic plan.
  • Provide leadership to branch fundraising as required to meet the financial development goals of the Association.
  • Responsible for Branch facility use and maintenance.  Inspects the facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance and to assure that the requirements of all applicable codes and laws are fully met.  Provides for the health and safety of members and staff using the Y.
  • Represent the Y through membership in selected community service organizations and through attendance at key Y and community events.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business administration/education or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a senior level leader in a facility with a large membership base
  • Experience leading operations in access of $3M
  • Must have experience growing membership base in similar environment
  • Experience with raising support through annual campaign and grant writing
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00
