Join the team at the YMCA of Central Viriginia to help lead the Southside Virginia Family Y Childcare and Aquatics Departments.
Under the general guidance of the Branch Director, the Program Director of the Southside Virginia Family Y will work with the Childcare and Aquatics departments to develop, plan and implement new and existing programs, procedures and methods to achieve the YMCA strategic goals and strengthen membership engagement, ensuring these programs are aligned with the Y’s cause, operate within a culture of safety and meet the needs of the community.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->Manage the YMCA Childcare and Aquatic Departments, providing direct supervision to the childcare and aquatic staff team to develop a strong mission-based culture within the Y staff.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->3. <!--[endif]-->Work closely with the Branch Director and COO to budget and manage childcare and aquatic finances.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->4. <!--[endif]-->Hire, train and evaluate staff in the Childcare and Aquatic Department through on-site visits to Childcare programs and on-deck supervision, one-on-one meetings and employee and member feedback.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->5. <!--[endif]-->Evaluate current programming through statistics and participant feedback; develop and implement new programming consistent with the Y mission.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->6. <!--[endif]-->Hold regularly scheduled agenda-based meetings with all staff in Childcare and Aquatic Departments to collaborate and provide guidance in developing an environment and programs consistent with the Y mission that serve the needs of the Greater Farmville community.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->7. <!--[endif]-->Review time cards each pay period and ensure clock in and out procedures are being followed.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->8. <!--[endif]-->Provide up-to-date Childcare programming, schedules and pool schedules to Program Director over Membership and Fitness and maintain association app to reflect up-to-the minute natatorium schedules.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->9. <!--[endif]-->Work in collaboration with the Branch Director, COO and Marketing Department, abiding by brand standards, to have active and current promotional and social media content reflecting programs, services and special events.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->10. <!--[endif]-->Maintain a culture of safety in all aspects of department and organizational operations through policies, procedures, systems and training.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->11. <!--[endif]-->Develop long-term goals for the Childcare and Aquatic Department and provide steps and resources to reach those goals.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->12. <!--[endif]-->Participate in promoting YMCA membership through assisting in the recruiting and retaining of members.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->13. <!--[endif]-->Responsible for the development and recruitment of volunteers for the Community Support Campaign – leading the Childcare and Aquatics Department team of volunteers.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->14. <!--[endif]-->Prepare and administer assigned annual budget, making revisions as necessary to meet or exceed budget guidelines.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->15. <!--[endif]-->Supervise water fitness classes/instructors in regard to scheduling, training, in-service, and developing curriculum to healthy living for our members.
16. Coordinate personnel certifications; assuring the current certification of staff each year (Quarterly reports indicating childcare and lifeguard staff certifications).
17. Conduct monthly in-service training for all childcare and aquatic staff.
18. Maintain daily records of pool operations (i.e. pump room, pools water chemistry, air quality levels) and communicate with the Branch Director, COO and the Association Property Director concerning pool maintenance.
19. Maintain relationships with members and program participants through verbal and written communications and strive to encourage the growth of membership participation.
20. Maintain a current schedule of pool activities.
21. Understand and relate the purpose and goals of the YMCA to staff and program participants.
22. Provide instruction in Lifeguarding, as well as, CPR and First Aid on a regular basis.
23. Assume other related duties deemed necessary by the Branch Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

· Build positive relationship with other Association staff members; share information with appropriate associates; cooperate with others in the Association.
- Bachelor degree in related field.
- Three years experience in a related field with comparable program growth.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, training and development of volunteers and staff.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work/interact with diverse populations.
- Computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and database management.
