Healthy Living Director

This position is primarily responsible for the supervision and management of all healthy living initiatives and community wellness outreach programs. The programs should include, but are not limited to, health and wellness programs that target special populations in the community. Develop working relationship with health/medical partners and collaborate when applicable. As a member of the branch leadership team, the Healthy Living Director will create and embrace a diverse and inclusive YMCA community to grow our local impact, activate our global network and multiply our mission. Additional responsibilities including maintaining, marketing and managing programming within the Healthy Living Initiatives of our YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement and oversee all Healthy living programming that reflects the community’s needs and maintain the YMCA’s high standards of quality, safety and character development.
  • Work with the Senior Program Director to research, facilitate and build quality programs that provide community outreach.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Hires, trains, supervises program staff and volunteers as programs dictate and budget guidelines allow.
  • Develop and implement annual budgets for assigned programs and manage agreed upon budgets within operating guidelines.
  • Responsible for program enrollment, retention, evaluation and reporting of records to the Senior Program Director
  • Meet performance measurement through annual giving by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Health Fitness/Physical Education, Exercise Physiology).
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to three years of experience in a clinical position.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certification preferred.
  • ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AFAA or ACE certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of fitness trends, fitness training, Foundation of Strength and Conditioning, Group Exercise and Listen First, Principles of Member Health & Wellness.
  • Excellent hospitality, interpersonal, and communications skills.
