- Establish strategic direction/vision for operations of two indoor pools
- Recruits, hires, trains and supervises all aquatic staff including lifeguards (approx. 50 part-time), swim instructors (approx. 25 part-time), First Aid/CPR instructors (approx. 3 part-time)
- Oversees development and delivery of quality aquatics programs including swim lessons (approx. 1100 participants)
- Develop, manage and monitor department budget of approximately $130,000 revenue and $220,000 in expenses.
- Maintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance with all state and county regulations
- Ensures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standards
- Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign
- Participates in branch volunteer committees and advisory board. Develop promotions that recruit and develop aquatic participants
- Participates and provides leadership in Association Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency and quality in aquatic programs and facilities
- Establish vision and systems that ensure safety across all aquatic endeavors; lead collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence, and member service excellence
- Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
- Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children.Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor.Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.
- Current Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (YMCA Lifeguarding preferred)
- 2 years of continuous experience in lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons in a group environment
- Experience working with children and adults
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Pool filtration and maintenance experience preferred
- YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferred
- YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
- Current Jefferson County Board of Health Certification required within first 30 days
- 2-4 years of supervising a minimum of 6 person staff team
- Experience managing a budget of $220,000 preferred
