Human Resources (HR) Generalist

350.org’s HR Team is looking for a full-time HR Generalist to help us attract, retain, develop and inspire awesome talents dedicated to fight climate change.

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented individual with strong management coaching and employee relations skills.

Reporting directly to the Global HR Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for day-to-day general HR administration including talent acquisition and management, on-boarding, compensation and benefits, employee relations, management and staff coaching, policy creation and implementation, legal compliance, HRIS administration and other human resources functions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support full-cycle recruitment, including but not limited to posting of employment ads, conducting preliminary screening, scheduling of interviews, and conducting reference and background checks.
  • Maintains 350.org’s applicant tracking system.
  • Oversees the preparation of offer letters, employment contracts, benefits packets and other employment related information.
  • Coordinates onboarding process including processing of new hire paperwork.
  • Serves as a point of contact to 350.org staff regarding compensation, benefits, policies and procedures, and other HR related questions and issues.
  • Conducts job analysis with managers and develops job descriptions.
  • Supports the development and administration of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the HR aspects and/or requirements of state employment registrations.
  • Prepares reports including monthly and quarterly HR reports, EEO, Form 5500 and other compliance reports.
  • Administer various HR systems, including HRIS, ATS, Benefits System, etc.
  • Coordinates offboarding activities such as exit interviews, handoffs, etc.
  • Coordinates and set-up HR related trainings or meetings.
  • Support HR and managers in documenting and addressing performance and other employee relations issues.
  • Prepares, maintains, manages, and audits paper and electronic personnel files in accordance with record retention and audit policies.
  • Assists with identifying and implementing practices designed to streamline and improve internal procedures, including the creation and maintenance of related process documentation.
  • Performs administrative duties as necessary, including filing, copying, data entry and preparing draft correspondence.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Public Engagement:

  • Understand 350.org’s history campaigns, and theory of social change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy. From time to time, use this knowledge to represent 350.org's perspective in varied public venues based on geographic location and areas of expertise.
  • From time to time, contribute work towards 350.org's overall mission that is outside of standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong management coaching and employee relations experience and skills a must.
  • Passionate about cultivating diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Prior experience supporting talent acquisition and management and compensation and benefits administration.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented, accurate, and able to prioritize and anticipate deadlines.
  • Able to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Willingness to work with cross-cultural and remote teams from different time zones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be comfortable juggling multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment in making decision to act or escalate.
  • Able to solve problems, and identify and recommend improvements in processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, resiliency, and a good sense of humor are helpful traits.
  • Must believe and embrace 350.org’s vision, mission and progressive values.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in Human Resources is a must.
  • Proficient in human capital management systems, applicant tracking systems, and other HR systems.
  • Previous work experience in an international NGO preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred but not required.
