The Land Networks Program in The Nature Conservancy of California spearheads innovative and collaborative initiatives to protect a connected network of conservation lands that represent the full diversity of California’s ecosystems. Its strategies are designed to develop and demonstrate solutions to major environmental challenges in California, and to “scale up” successful models through policy change and or dissemination to effect conservation more broadly. Key to success is developing the science, policies, and tools to influence drivers of land use change in order to protect California’s network of conservation areas, minimize the impacts of growth and development on connectivity, and restore severed linkages.
