Full-time

A YMCA Executive Director's goal is to have a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the people and the communities they serve. As the Executive Director of the West Valley YMCA, you will have a special chance to create a lasting legacy while taking your career to new heights!

The West Valley Family YMCA is located in Reseda, surrounded by Encino, Lake Balboa, Northridge, Sepulveda Basin, Tarzana, Winnetka, and Woodland Hills in the San Fernando Valley. Reseda, originally known for its rich agriculture in the early 1900s, is now home to over 15 schools, public parks, and a regional branch library. The city has been the venue for many well-known musical artists' performances and several motion picture and television productions. Museums, the Los Angeles Zoo and Universal Studios are some of the nearby attractions. The population, last reported in 2010, had 4,363 residents and the median household income was $53,842.

If you envision yourself at the forefront of developing strategic alliances that empower the West Valley community in their pursuit of healthy lifestyles while building an organization of staff and volunteer leaders to support and sustain it, this may be the position for you!

Your morning starts with a meeting with key community leaders and volunteers to plan a major YMCA event.  You check-in with your management team and conduct any necessary over-site reviews and provide follow-up consultation on key operations topics at your branch.  Later, back in your office, you begin planning for a number of committee meetings in the coming weeks. That evening, you have dinner with a Board Member and discuss how to make progress on pending agenda items.

This is an opportunity to hone your fiscal management and financial development skills by managing a growing operating budget that derives 5-6% of its' total from fundraising revenue. You will supervise and develop an 8 member management team, 8 additional full-time and 112 part-time staff members.  There is no limit to the potential for program development, including those that promote healthy living, keep kids safe after school and build character through experiences in camping and youth sports.

The annual support campaign goal for 2018 is $145,000.  With your Board and financial development expertise, we know that we can do even better! The West Valley YMCA serves 2,397 household memberships. The branch subsidizes about 30% of its membership enrollment.
