We are looking for an experienced educator to lead one of our four Los Angeles community groups, geographic areas where we provide directed support to Teach For America teachers. As the Director, Impact in Schools, you will set the vision and strategy for the community group using feedback from our program participants, learnings from the community, and a sophisticated set of data. You have experience coaching adults and are motivated by developing the leadership of others. You will manage and develop multiple teacher coaches on our team, as well as 2-4 program alumni working as part-time staff members, and will report to the MD, Impact in Schools.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience working with a diverse range of constituents in a community-focused context, has a track record of achieving ambitious results, and is passionate about adult learning and coaching others. You thrive in leadership roles that require you to identify and harness the abilities of a team to achieve a shared vision.
TFA-LA’s support model is grounded in a community-based approach. Each Director leads a team of Managers to support schools in one of four community groups. These community groups are charged with creating change at the school level by engaging school leaders, alumni and corps members. The goal is to see students growing academically and personally, including in their abilities to access opportunities and in their socio-cultural and political consciousness. This is how we know they are on a path of expanded life opportunities. You will cultivate relationships with our school partners and other stakeholders in the community group, as well as oversee the Managers’ development of corps members’ instructional leadership, ensuring that corps members achieve ambitious outcomes for students and the long-term leadership needed to fight for educational equity. This application will be open until May 11.
