The Coordinator, Development Operations will be a critical member of the Teach For America Los Angeles Development team, enabling our regional organization to secure the financial support and advocacy necessary to expand and deepen our impact. Our team of five full-time staff members is responsible for raising $9.5-10 million annually to support and sustain Teach For America’s operations in Los Angeles.

The Coordinator, Development Operations will be primarily responsible for implementing strong operational systems to ensure the cultivation of a growing community of donors, including overseeing compliant and timely gift processing, communicating effectively with internal team members and external stakeholders, executing logistics of events and mailings, and ensuring excellent data integrity and accuracy. The Coordinator, Development will report to the Manager, Donor Engagement.
 
This position is an excellent way to gain exposure to nonprofit fundraising, communications, development operations, and event planning. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to strive for operational excellence, critically think and prioritize projects and tasks, and operate as a constant learner and self-starter.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Development Operations (50%)

  • Maintain data integrity of a comprehensive database (Salesforce) and files that include accurate external constituent information (background research, contact information, etc.)
  • Execute proper gift processing, including management of school partner data, invoicing and documentation, and writing and sending gift acknowledgements
  • Liaise with our national Data & Operations team to ensure compliance with organizational, state, and federal regulations
  • Manage reports and dashboards to track team progress
  • Efficiently track all communications, actions, events, and interactions for constituents
  • Serve as the budget tracker for the team

Events and Communication Logistics (30%)

  • Provide ongoing logistical support for inspiring events such as the annual benefit dinner, Associates Board fundraiser, school visits, and other donor events 
  • Execute mass mailings and communication to our supporter base, both virtual and hard copy as needed
  • Prepare materials and logistical support for bimonthly meetings of our Advisory and Associates Boards, quarterly team stepbacks, and other significant meetings as needed
  • Manage event attendee data, including compiling invite lists for virtual and hard copy mailings and tracking attendee info pre and post-event

Other Organizational and Regional Priorities as Assigned (20%)

  • Assume a proactive role in increasing the efficiency and organization of the team
  • Provide administrative support for Vice President, Regional Strategy & Development, and Managing Director, Development
  • Participate in selection and matriculation of the next year’s teaching corps
  • Participate in events within and outside of your sub-team, such as regional retreats and diversity and inclusiveness programming
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Docs required
  • Experience with Salesforce (or other Constituent Relationship Management tool) preferred
  • Knowledge of basic graphic and web design tools a plus
  • 1-2 years of office experience preferred
  • Highly organized with proven time management skills and experience creating efficient systems to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Oriented to data, and passionate about the role of operations and logistics in a team’s impact
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possesses a spirit of flexibility, a positive outlook, and a strong customer service ethic
  • Comfortable with and excited by managing back-end operations and taking care of the details
  • Motivated by achieving results through others and able to prepare colleagues to execute
  • Exceptional personal responsibility for meeting goals and a track record of success
