The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is looking for a full time Sr. Executive Director for their Lakewood Family YMCA!

The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is looking for a full-time Sr. Executive Director for the Lakewood Family YMCA. The candidate will be responsible for the total operation of the Lakewood branch, including board development, membership growth and retention, marketing, programs, facilities, staff development, financial development, community relations, and collaborations. Must be able to engage, inspire, and build commitment to the Y cause with volunteers, members, and staff. Demonstrated track record in financial management that sustains the Y’s nonprofit business model while maximizing growth potential. Provide dynamic leadership that drives a strong commitment to achieving goals in a manner that delivers a consistent cause-driven experience. Recognizes and acts on the need to continually develop others’ capabilities to attain the highest level of performance possible. Demonstrate in word and action the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and a commitment to the Y’s mission, in all matters at all times.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinates the development of the Branch Board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget, meets or exceeds budget targets.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
  • Develops and directs high-quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and association mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts.
  • Directs programs and initiatives Association wide as needed.
  • Serves as a member of the association’s executive council and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree required. Degree in Business Administration or related fields. YMCA Branch Leader certificate required within three years from date of hire.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Six or more years of progressive management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency and budget responsibilities of $5M+. Proven track record in membership development and member retention required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Experience with capital campaigns; capital projects and facility development, highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and previous experience working with diverse populations.
  • A deep-seated motivation to thrive in a high demand, high reward workplace.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $106,000.00 - $138,000.00
