The Program Director will develop, organize and implement high quality licensed child care and ACA accredited day camp programs.  We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a track record in financial management that sustains the Y’s nonprofit business model while maximizing growth potential.  They will need to provide dynamic leadership that drives a strong commitment to achieving goals in a manner that delivers a consistent quality experience for children and parents in the programs.  This Director will need to build authentic relationships in the service of enhancing individual and team performance to support the Y’s work.  Serve as a branch leader that values and supports the many facets of philanthropy as an essential component in achieving the Y’s mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide direct leadership to two school age licensed child care sites, on and off-site day camp programs and focus on growth and expansion to additional sites.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned areas of the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets.  Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.  
  • Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities to maximize program value.  Expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assures compliance with state licensing requirements and other regulations as they relate to program areas.  Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.  Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Serve in a leadership position in the Annual Support Campaign fundraiser and assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Responsible for the marketing and outreach of program areas to ensure meeting and/or exceeding enrollment goals.
  • Provide leadership to the branch “Summer Sign Up Day” and support all branch special events.
  • Compiles program statistics.  Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor degree required. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years related experience preferred, supervising day camp and/or licensed child care programs, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising. 
  • Proven track record in youth development required. 
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
  • Minimum age requirements of 21, per licensing guidelines.
  • Background check -Livescan 
  • Health screening with negative TB test and negative drug test screening. 
  • Complete all assigned trainings. 
  • Must meet all educational requirements in alignment with licensed childcare director requirements.
  • YMCA Team Leader certificate required within three years from date of hire.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00
