Under the direction of the Senior Vice President/COO, the District Executive is responsible for the overall performance and strategic positioning of all operations in the Sussex County District. The District Executive will have direct responsibility for operations of the Sussex County Branch location and oversight responsibility for operations at the Fairview Lake location. This position provides executive level leadership for all assigned staff throughout the district and executive level oversight of all operations to include volunteer management, fiscal management, financial development, membership and program administration, facility and equipment stewardship, community relations, communications, and marketing. The position is responsible for leading a district with an overall operating budget of $8.2 million, approximately 35,500 members and program participants, served by 75 or more staff and volunteers.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local and regional community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies and constituents throughout the district service delivery area.
- Coordinates the development of the respective branch boards and associated committees. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of assigned branches, including board development.
- Develops, manages and/or oversees the management of all assigned branch budgets in order to meet or exceed budget targets. Initiates and/or oversees budget adjustments to ensure balanced operations.
- Provides executive level direction and leadership for the overall financial development activities of all assigned branches. Is accountable for achieving the overall annual support goals for the district.
- Provides leadership and support to assigned branch executive(s) to ensure financial and operational targets are met.
- Works collaboratively with members of the management team to develop short-term and long-term strategies and to execute an integrated, multifunctional plan of work across assigned locations.
- Continually reviews and evaluates key performance measures to ensure continuous improvement across all areas of operations; leads the development of corrective action plans and strategies as needed.
- Identifies areas for inter-branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals and realize operational efficiencies.
- Supports the implementation of association wide initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain members.
- Oversees the hiring, training, development, and supervision of branch staff.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship building skills in all interactions.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member/participant focused programs which support the overall YMCA mission, goals, and strategies.
- In alignment with the overall strategic plan, develops long and short range plans for the expansion of programs and services within the district.
- Travels throughout the district service areas to meet with potential membership and/or program partners.
- Collaborates with marketing and communications team to develop marketing messages and resources to support the membership and program growth strategy.
- Keeps abreast of trends and issues in the community related to membership and program philosophy and strategies.
- Ensures that diversity and inclusion are embraced and incorporated into business practices.
- Networks to build contacts, collaborations, and fund-raising in the community.

- Performs other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certificate is required or must be obtained within a limited period of time; Organizational Leader certificate is preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive management experience in a full facility Branch, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency showing sustained operational growth.
- Demonstrated ability to produce positive results in key areas of branch management to include staff development, budgeting and fiscal management, risk management, membership recruitment and retention, board and volunteer development, financial development, and facility management/operations.
- Strong business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth and strong financial performance.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships within an organization and with the external community.
- Proven communication skills, to include both written and verbal communications as well as demonstrated platform and public speaking ability.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, members, funders, and members of the business community.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Salary: $126,388.00 - $157,985.00
