The Assistant Director directly helps run almost every aspect of camp. Become one fourth of an amazing full-time team dedicated to continue the growth of a very successful camp. The Assistant Director will work directly with the Camp Director/CEO to ensure our Mission is continued, enrollment is full and new and exciting programs are created including in-house programs after camp. Responsibiilities are heavy on Marketing, staff supervision, programing and Pre/Post groups.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in running the overnight camp on site for up to 12 weeks
- Supervise and evaluate all programs
- Control inventory and rec supplies
- Establish opening and closing plans each summer
- Knowledge of Camp Brain for registering, camper assignments, and reporting
- Recruit, screen, hire, train, supervise and evaluate season staff
- Schedules all transportation needs for trips, days off and emergencies
- Plans and implements our week long and in-service training for staff.
- Key leader in ACA accreditation
- Monitor and stay in compliance with ACA and State of CT regulations
- Provide leadership for Special events/
- Communicate with parents, vendors, board of Directors and Staff
- Manage our Outcome based camper survey and present to board of directors at annual meeting
- Directly responsible for Media director and content of Blog and daily pictures
- Lesson plan and risk management review of all programs
- Generate new "post" camp in-house programs
- Directly run any before or after camp groups, including staffing and programing
- Development and implementation of annual marketing plan.
- Facebook and Google advertisements
- Graphic design knowledge to create Post cards and other pieces as needed
- Live on site during staff training, camp sessions and groups
- Commute to our office in Torrington during the rest for the year
Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in camp administration, education, recreation or a related youth development degree
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of three years full time at an overnight camp
- One or more of the following preferred: Ropes Course certified, Lifeguarding, Serv Safe, or equestrian certification
- Ability to supervise staff and campers
- Ability to plan and organize efficiently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word Press, Ad-Words and video/photo editing software
- walk one mile in fifteen minutes including stepping over natural obstacles such as logs, rocks, etc, and can lift a 14" X 18" X 36" object weighing 40 pounds to a height of forty-eight inches
- Interpret camp's mission and vision to campers, parents, staff, donors, and general public
- Annually update and adhere to budget.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,500.00 - $49,500.00
