The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a highly regarded national voluntary health services agency, is increasing the staff of its newly built-out R&D laboratory in Lexington, MA (greater Boston area).  Focus of the lab is the development and testing of assays and technologies that may lead to new treatments for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

The Research Associate, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Genomics will conduct laboratory functions under general supervision of the Head of NGS and Genomics, with whom she/he is expected to work as a team in the operation of the laboratory’s NGS and Genomics group. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • She/he is expected to work as part of a team in the operation of the NGS and Genomics laboratory.
  • Will prepare NGS libraries, operate and maintain NGS instrumentation including Single Cell, Next Generation, and Third Generation sequencing platforms.
  • Responsible for timely execution of high quality NGS experiments.
  • Prepare data for analysis and internal presentations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Nucleic acid extraction and QC.
  • Manipulation of DNA (PCR, Electrophoresis, etc.).
  • NGS library preparation.
  • Operation and maintenance of NGS instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting and Quality Control of library construction and sequencing runs.
Educational Background: 
B.S. in Life Sciences with 0-4 years R+D lab experience (no advaced degrees being considered at this time).
Skills/Experience: 
  • General molecular biology skills.
  • Familiarity with Illumina sequencing platforms.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic team.
