The YMCA of Central Kentucky seeks an energetic, results-oriented executive for our C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA.
The leader we’re looking for will:
- Fully engage the Gatton YMCA’s 9,000 membership in the Y’s programs and mission
- Coach and mentor staff to become the best cause-driven leaders they can be
- Provide strong fiscal management (budget size of $6M) and be open to additional responsibilities to help our association thrive
- Connect with volunteers and community leaders
- Grow philanthropy to support our outreach and mission (current annual support of $130,000 with planning beginning for capital effort
- Be a collaborative member of our Association’s leadership team

Areas of Responsibility:
- Executes the policies and goals of the Association and of the individual Branch.
- Employs staff within the operational needs and budget, providing for the overall training and development of a highly competent and motivated staff team.
- Recruits and maintains an active volunteer Branch Advisory Board and committees to assist in the direction and success of programs, facility development and special events.
- With help from CEO and Vice President of Philanthropy, recruits and maintains a Board that strengthens opportunities with respect to annual giving and capital fund raising, diversity and planning to ensure that all board members become more actively involved with the Y.
- Oversees the preparation and management of the annual Branch budget.
- Directs and coordinates the Branch’s Annual Giving Campaign and actively pursues outside funding to further the YMCA’s mission in the community.
- Implement fundraising plans with oversight from VP of Philanthropy, particularly taking the lead in growing and engaging the donor base, through personal contacts, public presentations, and leveraging of the networks of board members, past donors and other friends of the YMCA. Network within the community and conduct ongoing prospect identification and evaluation.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with fund donors and potential donors and help them fulfill their philanthropic goals through the YMCA.
- Engage community leaders to listen to needs and wants to better prepare the Y to be the conduit and leader in health and wellness for the community.
- With Branch Operations Director and Core Service Leaders, oversees and evaluates staff in the implementation of programs, activities, and schedules to accomplish annual objectives and meet community needs.
- With Branch Associate Director, ensures that the facility is clean and well-maintained. Plans strategically for facilities’ ongoing maintenance needs, and facility and equipment upgrades.
- Oversees creation of new programs to meet expanding needs of the community.
- Maintains and expands community contacts and visibility to ensure the branch maintains a high degree of acceptance and credibility within the service area.
- Models the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and provides/maintains an environment in which these values are evident to staff, members and program participants through all levels of the association.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification required; Organizational Leader certification preferred.
