The Financial Development Director serves on the CEO’s admin leadership team and provides strategic leadership in financial development to advance the YMCAs mission through annual giving, grants, endowment bequests, major gifts, corporate gifts and capital campaigns. The Financial Development Director assists the CEO in developing actively engaged fundraising volunteers and positions Countryside YMCA as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements organizational goals and strategic plans for fundraising, balancing long-term direction and short-term requirements.
- Coordinates systems and manages resources, including the financial development budget, needed to carry out the fundraising plans.
- Implements fundraising policies and procedures for the association.
- In conjunction with CEO, develops and maintains “case for support” and necessary documents to communicate the case, impact and opportunities to participate through giving.
- Assists in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects. Maintains database resource files on top Countryside YMCA relationships and community leaders.
- Coordinates endowment programs, Heritage Club, Chairman’s Roundtable, Annual Campaign, campaign fundraising events and capital development (as needed) programs.
- Coordinates proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations.
- Assists in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts, corporate relationships and/or sponsorships within the local business community
- In conjunction with the CEO, develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
- Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed.
- Provides training in fundraising. Educates, motivates and provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.
- Works with CEO and marketing staff to create and implement effective communication strategies, with compelling messages that inspire others to accomplish the mission and cause. Coordinates communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support.
- Represents the CEO in the community as needed.
- Prepares annual department budget. Monitors and adjusts spending as needed to keep costs within budget guidelines.
- Participates in CEO’s Admin Team to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Countryside YMCA.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent;
Skills/Experience:
- Two or more years of professional experience with a background in fundraising in the YMCA or another non-profit preferred.
- Ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
- Ability to create interpretive materials to enable potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.
- Foundation and government grant writing expertise preferred
- CFRE or equivalent preferred.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00
