The Le Mars YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to lead our Aquatics Department and Swim Team Program!

Under the general guidance of the Executive Director, the Aquatic Director will be responsible for developing, organizing and implementing high-quality aquatic programs and providing leadership and supervision to aquatic staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop and direct staff and volunteers for both the indoor and outdoor pools
  • Create work schedules, hold monthly staff meetings for part-time staff, performance reviews for staff under your supervision, maintain accurate staff certification records
  • Create and schedule swim classes, water fitness classes, swim team practices, etc.
  • Responsible for communicating aquatic information to the YMCA staff
  • Assess and recommend facility and equipment needs
  • Provide data and reports to the Executive Director
  • Communicate program information to the Marketing Director for promotion
  • Teaching aquatic classes, lifeguarding and any other general aquatic duties
  • Develop special events for the pools
  • Represents the Association and maintains its relationship with other organizations and groups in the community
  • Order appropriate supplies and program resources
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state and local health and safety regulations
  • All other duties assigned for the good of the organization
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 21 years of age with Lifeguarding and Swim Lesson Certifications
  • CPR, AED, First Aid Certifications
  • Ability to obtain CPO certification and Trainer License for above certifications
  • Management experience including staff supervision of 10 or more people along with scheduling and training of staff
  • Competitive swim team experience desired
  • Excellent customer service skills
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $26,000.00 - $32,000.00
