The J.M. Tull-GwinnettFamily YMCA located in Lawrenceville is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking executive director with a proven, successful track record of developing a strong branch board, increasing annual giving, engaging community through increasing membership and programs while advancing the Y’s impact in the community.

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, this impactful leader will have primary responsibility for the branch’s day-to-day operations. Experience in and a demonstrated track record in the areas of staff supervision, membership and program development, fiscal management and fundraising along with board development.

Also, this leader will play a key role in further expand the Y’s reach into the community and excel in development and fostering of partnerships and collaborations with both private and public sectors including the local governments and the school board.

The J.M. Tull-GwinnettFamily YMCA is located in Lawrenceville. The J.M. Tull-Gwinnett Family YMCA serves the suburban communities of northeast/central Gwinnett County. This facility has 57,000 square ft with fields and indoor/outdoor pools serving 3000 membership units serving over 14,000 individuals through membership and programs. The facility was built in 1986 and will undergo a $7.6 M renovation in the upcoming years. The Y serves a very diverse community in Gwinnett County. Total budget for Gwinnett Y is $3.5M with an Annual Campaign of $170,000.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for the operation of a suburban, full-facility YMCA and an Outdoor YMCA supporting the strategic direction of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta while modeling the behavioral values established by the Association
  • Represents and promotes the Y in the local community by developing strategic, positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities
  • Responsible for a balanced operation, annual budget development and monthly budget monitoring to meet or exceed budgeted targets$3.5 Million Membership and Programs.
  • Develops and directs high quality, relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members and the community
  • Effective board development including recruitment of board members who represent the branch community and developing a strong board committee structure
  • Leads annual support campaign and other fundraising activities to support branch with increasing annual goals both in dollars raised and volunteers recruited. Year 1 Goal: $170,000 Volunteers:25
  • Ensures revenue growth through a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals and strategies
  • Effectively supervise and develop branch staff and volunteers and build an exceptional culture to motivate them to achieve their personal and professional goals
  • Responsible for facility management and maintenance to ensure high quality facilities, grounds and equipment. A culture of risk management and safety is maintained at the branch. Maintains required safety and training certifications, Emergency Action Plans, SDS Manuals, etc.
  • Participates in branch and Association-wide activities and initiatives, assigned cabinets and/or task forces
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Proven history to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Past experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organization, corporations and government agencies.
  • Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, values and purpose.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
