The Marketing and Communications Manager leads the writing and editing for a variety of marketing and communications materials, and develops, creates, and implements plans that align with the strategic priorities of the Nevada program. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Marketing and Communications Manager manages many aspects of the Chapter’s marketing and communications program and projects and ensures that the creative work reflects the positioning, platform and voice of organization’s marketing and communication objectives. S/he has lead responsibility for writing and editing a variety of marketing & communication materials that make a strong connection with The Nature Conservancy’s key audiences. S/he serves as an expert resource to the Chapter and plays a lead role in crafting communications solutions that meet specific project objectives, while simultaneously strengthening The Nature Conservancy brand. S/he participates in devising strategies and promotions in collaboration with internal departments to meet specific marketing, communications, and philanthropy targets. S/he implements operational delivery of branding principles whether applied internally or outbound. S/he works closely with various constituents including senior staff, department and division staff, vendors, and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of projects that contribute to a positive service relationship. S/he may coordinate and manage budgets for the initiative/program and may oversee the day-to-day tasks of the program. The Marketing Manager will be based in Las Vegas and is a part-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Manage and serve as team lead on assigned projects.
  • Organizes, manages and coordinates diverse projects and activities with many variables. 
  • Manage assigned budget, evaluate results and develop recommendations for corrective strategies as needed. 
  • Responsibility and accountability for meeting project goals and objectives.
  • May supervise volunteers, interns or temporary staff, in addition to professional and/or administrative staff.
  • Resolves complex issues independently within program area.
  • Opportunity to act independently within program goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience crafting organization- or company-wide communication tools, including branding.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading messages for targeted audiences.
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences including some or all of the following: internal and external executives, donors, members, board members, and the public or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience developing, implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience in journalism or fundraising writing and editing.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
  • Experience conceiving and writing creatively for various audiences from technical information.  
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic, high quality marketing products and plans as well as familiarity with creative processes.
  • Relevant technology skills required to prepare presentations and analyze data to construct reports.
