The Director, Institute Operations, will operationalize the summer experience of our newest corps members through strong logistics and external partnerships for the Las Vegas Valley Regional Summer Training program. The D,IO will play a critical role in enabling CMs to reach the ambitious outcomes of Summer Training and setting the foundation for a strong corps and staff culture, which continues to build our collective impact towards One Day. The Director, Institute Operations is charged with designing and managing all of the systems and logistics that will support the Summer Training program, including session space, school sites, resources, and district requirements. He or she will hire, train and manage the part-time summer staff who will lead these systems and logistics on the ground. In addition, this person will be responsible for building and stewarding relationships with our external partners, including members of the district office and school administration and faculty.
The Director, Institute Operations is an integral part of the Pre Corps and Summer Institute Team which seeks to ensure all of our incoming corps members are prepared to teach in their placement schools. To pursue our vision in Las Vegas Valley we seek to fuel the movement for educational equity by building a foundational set of leadership orientations in our people that address a complex set of systemic injustices that conspire to limit educational, employment, and life opportunities for many of the children for whom we stand and work. The Director, Institute Operations is will report directly to the Managing Director, Institute under the Program Continuum Team.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Set and Lead Vision for Institute Operations and Logistics - Set and hold a compelling vision and goals for institute operations and logistics at school and university sites
  • Develop and lead strong operational plans for lodging and food, transportation, communication, resource management
  • Find, negotiate and manage event space for group development experiences
  • Cultivate relationships with external partners at summer school sites and co-plan school-based systems to support corps members, students and staff
  • Design and manage or delegate all other corps facing operations, including summer stipends, material resources, meals during sessions, etc.
  • Collaborate with School Districts and School Leaders to determine and communicate summer school processing requirements
  • Develop systems that ensure compliance with state, federal and individual grant compliance
  • Manage Partnerships
  • Work closely with the MD, Institute to set vision for and manage external partnerships
  • Manage all relevant School District & University relationships that ensure we have facilities, resources, and access to people
  • Collaborate with team members to recruit qualified corps members and alum to part-time institute roles
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal teams and people that facilitate knowledge and information sharing pertaining to the institute model
  • Develop and Support Part-Time Institute Operational Staff
  • Design and execute strategy to recruit, hire and train part-time institute staff alongside regional Managing Director
  • Design and manage all training conference logistics and operations
  • Design training materials and professional development for summer operations staff
  • Design and execute spring and summer trainings for all summer operations staff
  • Collective Responsibility
  • Participate in phone selection and/or in-person selection for up to three days each selection window (about 6-10 days total throughout the year depending on your role)
  • Matriculate new corps members during 4-5 confirmation windows throughout the year
  • Attend all-staff meetings, retreats, and step backs throughout the year
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 4+ of relevant professional experience
  • 1+  management related experiences
  • At least one year managing medium to large scale events
  • Teach For America staff experience preferred
  • Previous summer institute/training experience required

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel around the Las Vegas Valley region
  • Ability to live on-site for the seven-week Institute
  • Occasional work required on nights and weekends
