Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Youth Development Director will be responsible implementing and delivering high quality YMCA recreation programs to meet the needs of children, teens and families. Responsible for the day to day operations of summer camp, including on-site day camp, specialty camp and teen camp, as well as all recreational and competitive sports including, but not limited to, marketing, promoting, organizing leagues and tournaments, developing community collaborations, facility oversight, and fiscal management.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for family member engagement through effective program delivery, promoting events and activities including Family Fun events, Healthy Kids Day and more.
- Plans, organizes, delivers and evaluates all youth sports programming, family and youth enrichment programs, summer camp and instructional physical/sports classes, as well as adult sports.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Plans and implements special events; and leads or participates in branch fundraising activities.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation & Leisure, Sports Management or related field is preferred,
Skills/Experience:
- Candidates must have proven skills in staff leadership and supervision, budget management, and relationship building.
- Other qualifications include strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication.
- Given the nature of the Sports Director responsibilities, coverage will require afternoon, evening, and weekend work hours.
- One or more years of related experience.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000.00 - $34,000.00
