Under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Health Innovation, the Healthy Living Association Coordinator will coordinate all programs, events, and mobile outreach. Coordinator will lead community food education, nutrition, food distribution and mobile fitness programming. This position will work closely with community partners and YMCA branches in delivering multiple programs at various times of the year. This position will help create, implement and deliver quality programming using the two re-purposed buses that have been retrofitted as a mobile kitchen and a fitness bus. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Food distribution, food education and fitness with community partners at various sites across the tri-county area.
  • Creating weekly calendars on program location and times for mobile units.
  • Food gathering and prepping for demos and distribution.
  • Leader in health and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and high level of accuracy with data collection.
  • Ensure a positive delivery and encouraging environment with co-workers, volunteers and participants.
  • Establish systems for regularly scheduled equipment inspections and sanitizing to ensure safety of all participants.
  • Ongoing relationship building with partnering organizations, community leaders, donors, parents and kids.
  • Create and implement delivery plans for program marketing, communication and public relations.
  • Lead small groups in food education, nutrition, meal planning and creating.
  • Be part of local events to promote health and wellness.

Anticipated Outcomes:

  • Advance the impact of our efforts in the community in food distribution and education so that the YMCA is the thought leader and convener of community food organizations in the Greater Lansing area.
  • Partner and collaborate with a minimum of 15 organizations annually to insure that the YMCA is part of the leadership group of organizations working together to end hunger in our community.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, interns and the team of staff who also work in these programs.
Educational Background: 
Preferred Bachelor degree in Nutrition, Kinesiology, Exercise Science or five years related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Hold a current C.P.R./A.E.D and first aid certification.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a dynamic engaging personality with strong relationship building skills.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong self-starter and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with databases.
  • Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Lansing.  
  • Possess ability to coordinate projects with multiple partners and have experience with food demos, food distribution and fitness programming for youth.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00
