The Creative Content Manager for the Michigan Chapter will play a key role for the Communications Team in implementing activities identified across multiple communications plans. The Communications Team works closely with conservation staff to help move their work forward in protecting land and water, tackling climate change, providing food and water sustainably and building healthy cities. As part of that team, the Creative Content Manager will be responsible for identifying appropriate communication vehicles based on project goals, planning and creating visually appealing assets that adhere to TNC’s brand identity, and developing strategies for the most effective use of those assets Chapter-wide.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Creative Content Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Communications and designs and creates visual assets and other written content for print publications including newsletter, annual reports, informational factsheets, etc. S/he also works closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to create any identified graphic needs for digital communications. S/he will work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications, various conservation staff and Chapter leadership to implement strategic recommendations. S/he also works in collaboration with other state chapters and our regional and national marketing departments to ensure products are consistent with TNC’s existing brand identity.  S/he may work within budgets to minimize expenses, maximize revenue, and meet quality control standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Designs, manages and implements multiple creative and/or design projects and activities with many variables.
  • Coordinates projects and manages a timeline.
  • Does not supervise any staff but will coordinate the work of peers on departmental project teams.  May supervise volunteers, interns or temporary staff. 
  • Works within a budget to complete a project. 
  • Works with cross-departmentally with Communications, Conservation and Development team members to gather information necessary to create accurate and compelling visual content.
  • Works with vendors/other parties to execute projects when necessary.
  • Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.  
  • Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks and projects.  May have full opportunity to direct individual projects.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite products.
  • Experience in identifying appropriate communication tools based on project goals.
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in marketing.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences from technical information. 
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Relevant technology skills required to prepare presentations and analyze data to construct reports.
  • Practical knowledge of marketing and branding principles.
