Blue Accounting Coastal Wetlands Technician

The Blue Accounting Coastal Wetlands Technician works closely with colleagues to research and gather data, identify and overcome constraints to the flow of information, develop content for web publication, and assist with project management in support of the Blue Accounting Coastal Wetlands issue.

This is a 6-month, temporary position.   

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Blue Accounting Coastal Wetlands Technician gathers and synthesizes data in support of ecological and socioeconomic coastal wetland metrics. The Technician will also assess constraints to communicating coastal wetland information, recommend ways to overcome those constraints, and assist in developing compelling information that is useful to decision-makers, funders, and managers. She/he will also assist in managing the Coastal Wetland issue.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • May perform fieldwork.
  • Compiles data, evaluates constraints to communication, and recommends processes to effectively communicate science-based information to professional and lay audiences.   
  • Will work with a small group of staff, interns or volunteers on a project basis.
  • May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in science related field and 1-year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience with compiling and aggregating data for analysis and communication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  •  Excellent communication skills.
  •  Ability to understand program budget development and monitoring. 
  •  Ability to interpret guidelines and evaluate information and adapt accordingly.
  •  Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
  •  Experience with communicating science-based information to professional and lay audiences.
  •  Experience coordinating and facilitating team activities.
