The LFY has expanded its reach with multiple branches, resident camp, and new programming. Currently serving 17,940 members (9400 units), the LFY continues growth in new areas creating the need for a strong operations mindset to help insure sustainable growth that delivers measurable impact.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Operations at the Lancaster Family YMCA serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team and ensures successful operation of the YMCA branches. The Director of Operations also positions the Y as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues.
- Supervises branch executive staff to assure sound operations. Addresses the root causeof systemic issues rather than symptoms.
- Develops a high-performing, cause-driven culture. Provides leadership and direction to the branches by coaching branch executives. Partners with the branch boards and community to ensure the Y is identifying and meeting community needs effectively.
- Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled to produce growth in net results.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions. Guides the organizationto make tough choices about what to stop, start, and continue.
- Creates effective, sustainable, organization-wide collaborations. Fosters a climate of teamwork and innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
- Creates organizational policies and structures that remove barriers and foster equity and inclusion for all.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds and equipment.
- Directs Branch strategic planning efforts. Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA by developing annual operating/implementation plans to ensure strategic plan goals are met. Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO.
- Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to ensure consistency with the Y’s cause and standards.
- Represents the Y/CEO in the community as needed.
- YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.
- Eight or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
