Under the direction of the Branch Manager, City Branch the Director of Membership & Aquatics provides operational leadership to the day-to-day operations of the membership as well as supervise the Aquatics Director. The Advanced Director leads initiatives to increase the YMCA's position in the community as a leading partner in wellness and aquatics, along with serving those with diverse abilities. This position serves on the branch leadership team and is also responsible for managing membership and aquatic related financials, supervision of staff, volunteer development and for being a YMCA advocate in the community. A strong focus is placed on delivering a superior member experience, enhancing member connection and engagement, thereby leading to increasing member satisfaction and retention.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements Association policies and procedures for safe and effective programs and services.
  • Utilize community data and resources to evaluate opportunities to promote programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA.
  • Develops implements, manages, and uses data to evaluate operating plans to promote programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Develops and supports strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Responsible for the oversight and evaluation of multiple programs. Program delivery duties as needed.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises assigned staff along with volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Ensures accurate completion of all payroll functionality for assigned staff including but not limited to: timecard approvals, changes and scheduling of assigned staff.
  • Takes leadership role for branch mission advancement and/or volunteer activities.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Ensures that program and Association standards and policies are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, data-driven evaluations and ongoing training of staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Conduct staff meetings, with each program area, every session. Provide notes and attendance to document.
  • Participate as a member of the management team for the City Branch, as well as director on duty responsibilities.
  • Provide branch coordination to all departments to ensure successful communication, special events and program growth.
  • Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree in related field or equivalent experience required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of three years of YMCA experience-related experience within another organization required
  • Three years of supervisory experience required
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
  • Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations required
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
  • YMCA Team Leader certification required
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $42,000.00 - $47,000.00
