The child care director is responsible for the overall operation of our early learning center, before and after-school programs, child watch and summer camp with the help of coordinators. This position develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA child care programs both on and off-site. This position is responsible for hiring, supervising and scheduling staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead and manage daily operations of a licensed childcare facilities.
  • Comply with all state and local regulations.
  • Meets all food license requirements.
  • Responsible for staffing of the programs to include: recruiting, interviewing, orientation, training, mentoring/supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers in the performance of their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensures staff: adult-child ratios are within limits at all times and increase/reduces staffing as numbers increase/decrease during early morning/late afternoon hours. Operate within budget guidelines providing sound fiscal management
  • Oversee camp director and staff providing quality summer camp experience for campers, schedule all trips and facility usage during the summer months.
  • Ensures staff ratios are met.
  • Responsible for developing annual budget
  • Organizes special events for children and parents.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Education (preferred), Child Development or the Human Service field with five years of professional experience with children.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of ODJFS Step Up to Quality regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must have strong leadership skills.
  • Must have a friendly and positive attitude.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
