Would you like to share your passion for youth development? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to successfully deliver programs at the Truman Titan Center at Truman Middle School? As the youth program director, you will oversee, coordinate and expand school year and summer programs and partnerships to support the academic, health and social success of students in accordance with the goals and mission of Truman Middle School and YMCA. You will provide a quality experience focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Program Delivery:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of the Truman Middle School Titan Center (TTC).
- Supervise and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of a broad range of programs, before, during and/or after school, as well as during school breaks.
- Ensure program objectives are achieved and in compliance with the school district, TCC policies, and full-service community school’s vision.
- Educate community parents, staff and students to the full-service community school’s mission and vision.
- Work with school and TTC staff to design projects that meet youth development objectives.
- Develop, implement and sustain strong programs that meet student needs.
- May lead and/or coordinate a Community Advisory Committee.
Administration:
- Collect data, administer surveys and other evaluation tasks as required.
- Conduct grant reporting and fund development for specific programs or projects as needed.
Supervision:
- Recruit, orient and supervise full-service community school partnership staff, volunteers, and interns.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Principals and key stakeholders to implement site work plan and identify core set of “shared outcomes” and best practices to support and cultivate academic achievement and the holistic development of TTC students.
- Participate in school committees and other decision-making groups.
- Recruit and manage collaborative program partners to expand offerings; especially those that affect issues of disproportionality and increase academic success of students.
- Work with the school administration, not for profits, and the Tacoma community to build relationships, PTA and a continuum of offerings.
Fiscal Management:
- Manage and implement the approved program budget.
- Utilize purchase orders, check requests and expense reports per association policies. Use a system to track and monitor ongoing expenses, purchase orders and inventory.
Financial Development and Philanthropy:
- Meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
- Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
- Develop relationships with internal/external members to secure and support branch financial development success.
- Provide training and equip staff with tools to better communicate our cause.
- I have at least two years of youth development, program management, and staff supervision.
- I have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- I am bilingual or multilingual.
- I have the ability to work within a culturally, socio-economically diverse school and community setting.
- I can effectively communicate with staff, parents, students, and community partners.
- I am able to maintain confidentiality; deal with changing priorities; work under frequent interruptions; and work as part of a team.
- I have knowledge of the skills needed for students to make healthy, successful progress academically, emotionally and socially.
- I am able to prepare and maintain accurate records; plan and manage projects.
- I am proficient with standard office equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.).
Hourly: $18.27
