Under the direction of the CEO and in accordance with the strategic plan, the Financial Development Director is responsible for many aspects of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA fundraising efforts. This position will work closely with the CEO and other key staff around fundraising events, foundation/grant research (may include grant writing), donor contact and appreciation throughout the year, YMCA storytelling initiatives, YMCA community positioning, YMCA history and awareness initiatives.Will work with other state/regional YMCAs on Annual Campaign planning and training.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Build personal and meaningful relations with YMCA staff, members, participants, volunteers, guests, donors, and area schools, churches, and other community organizations.
- Work as a member of the management team, and work with all employees in a positive manner.
- Lead the YMCA’s annual campaign, capital campaign, and foundation initiatives for staff, board, and community phases.
- Assist with developing, promoting and leading special events.
- Evaluate event effectiveness through observation, and administer/analyze participant surveys.
- Research funding opportunities, and develop & maintain a prospect list. Develop and maintain a comprehensive grant writing/funding plan and calendar. Coordinate proposal development, submission and follow-up.
- Enter Annual Campaign pledges and process payments.
- Coordinate and maintain a photo and story archive for the YMCA. This includes taking photos of Y programs and events and coordinating their release/display; researching, writing and sharing Y success stories; coordinating and maintaining a Y history archive and display.
- Be responsible for the development and implementation of the assigned budget.
- Work daily to enhance the YMCA image both within and outside the walls of the YMCA.
- Attend all staff trainings and meetings as required.
- Manage conflict, problems, and emergencies, taking appropriate actions without waiting for directions.
- Assist CEO in board storytelling, board meeting prep, and board annual campaign.
Educational Background:
A degree in fundraising, non-profit management, philanthropy, English, or PR, is preferred, along with two or more years of related experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Must exhibit excellent relationship building skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Incumbent must be able to independently work effectively, as well as collaborate with staff in all departments.
- Additional necessary skills include an understanding of the YMCA mission and ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
