This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director will lead all Healthy Living programs by planning, budgeting, promoting, and implementing measures to ensure premiere membership experiences, value, service, and retention while supporting a diverse staff in a coaching environment. The HLD would also work directly with our 4 other outstanding community partners: Ivy Tech Community College, Franciscan Health, IU Health and Junior Achievement as part of comprehensive and exciting programmatic community health initiative.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Sets agenda and leads weekly Wellness department meetings; regularly strategizes department goals and priorities with the COO.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of all stakeholders
- Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
- Collaborates with Marketing department on design and development of program materials; utilizes templates
- Works with Development department to secure program funding
- Consults with Y USA for updated program resources
- Adheres to all HIPPA standards and policies
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers
- Creates job descriptions for new program staff
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance
- Implements strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete
- Mentors and creates career development plans for staff
- Develops and trains staff on department policies and procedures
- Participates in leadership committees and special projects as needed
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- 3- 5 years related experience preferred; previous wellness department roles
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Superior analytical and strategic planning ability
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
- Knowledge of health, nutrition, fitness, and behavior change best practices
- Accounting programs, membership databases, and mobile app experience preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,900.00 - $43,700.00
