Program Generalist - HR/Finance + School Age Programs

We are looking for a multi-talented candidate who is ready to balance their passion for working with kids and their desire to broaden their skill sets and work experience in the business of Finance and Human Resources.

During the academic school year August through May, the program generalist will spend 18-20 hours a week as a Finance and Human Resources Assistant. You will tackle entry-level administrative functions which include, but are not limited to assisting with the daily movement of funds and information between all branches of our YMCA, file management, data entry, creation and distribution of staff uniforms and badges, scanning and copying. The individual who assumes this role must have a high level of integrity and honesty, along with the ability to keep information confidential at all times. This position requires a high attention to detail, accuracy and efficient time management skills. Strong customer service and communication skills are highly desirable. Position requires reliable transportation and an acceptable MVR. Driving your vehicle, between branches of our YMCA will be required.

Along with your finance and HR duties, you'll serve 20 hours per week as a role model to kids in our after-school programs. You'll become a mentor and guide as you help build a culture of fun and friendship in our before and after-school programs. During the summer, program generalists work full-time in day camp leadership.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Summer Duties:

  • 40 hours per week in Summer Day Camp. May 28th - August 15th. Job responsibilities are similar in nature to those described below in the school age program. Be prepared to wear your swim suit and field trip almost every week.

School Year Duties: 

  • School Age Programs: Mon through Friday 2pm -6pm 
  • General Job Responsibilities: We provide before- and after-school care in 14 schools/locations throughout Boulder County and Longmont as well as full-day camps on days when school is out and full time summer camps for grades K-5th. The Program Generalist (PG) will serve as Site Director in the absence of the Associate Program Director and work closely with the APD in order to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the school age children while also implementing our core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. School age program activities include gym and group games, arts and crafts, science, drama/dance and field trips on days when school is out. PGs will help plan and implement these daily activities. They will also help oversee program leaders, aides and volunteers. The applicant must have program-implementation experience. Applicants must be a positive role model for youth and have strong leadership skills to support the staff team! 

Human Resources and Finance Assistant

  • Schedule: 9am-1:30pm, Monday through Friday Exact times are flexible and will total 10 hours per week for Finance and 8 hours per week for Human Resources.
  • General Job Responsibilities: The PG assists with various entry-level administrative functions in the Finance and Human Resources Departments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with the daily movement of funds and information between all branches of our YMCA, file management, data entry, creation and distribution of staff uniforms and badges, scanning and copying. The individual who assumes this role must have a high level of integrity and honesty, along with the ability to keep information confidential at all times. 
Skills/Experience: 

The applicant must have program-implementation experience. Applicants must be a positive role model for youth and have strong leadership skills to support the staff team!

Successful candidates will show an enthusiasm for customer service, learning new stuff, multi-tasking and being a role model for kids and adults alike. Very successful candidates will show an unparalleled love for working at the Y and have the following credentials: 

  • Be 21 years or older
  • Supply documentation of current certification or become certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Provide 3 written references.

AND have at least one of the following

  • A four year degree in a related field or
  • 48 semester hours of college credit AND 960 hours of experience in a licensed program since turning 18 or
  • 5460 hours of experience working directly with school-age children with a group of 4 or more unrelated school age children.

Salary Range: $14-16/hr DOE (rate of pay is consistent for all hours worked)
