We are looking for a multi-talented candidate who is ready to balance their passion for working with kids and their desire to broaden their skill sets and work experience in YMCA aquatics.

Areas of Responsibility: 

From August through May, you will spend 20 hours a week as part of our awesome aquatics staff at our YMCA swimming pools. You will become an advocate for the safety and wellbeing of our members and guests and you will ensure that the Y's pools are friendly, welcoming environments for all to play, learn and build confidence in the water. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of participants while they are in or near the pool or hot tub, general maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, chemical testing, general problem solving and more.

Along with your aquatics duties,you'll serve 20 hours per week as an Assistant Director in our after-school programs. The School-Age Program Assistant Director serves as the second in command at one of our before/after school sites. You'll need energy, a happy demeanor and strong leadership skills to supervise, teach, nurture and encourage both staff and children with a balance of empathy, accountability, role modeling and hands-on work. You will be in ratio with the children 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday during the school year.During the summer, program generalistswork full-timein day camp leadership.

This position was designed to provide staff with opportunities to build skills for advancement in multiple YMCA departments.

Educational Background: 
A four-year degree in a related field
OR 48 semester hours of college credit AND 960 hours of experience in a licensed program since turning 18
OR 5460 hours of experience working directly with school-age childrenwith a group of 4 or more unrelated school age children.
Skills/Experience: 

Successful candidates will be organized problem solvers with an enthusiasm for water safety, customer service, learning new stuff, building relationships and being role models for kids and adults alike. We are looking for self-motivated candidates with attention to detail, a strong work ethic and a passion for meeting deadlines. Bonus points if you are a trained swim instructor. Very successful candidates will show an unparalleled love for working at the Y and have the following credentials:

  • Be 21 years or older
  • Current ARC/YMCA Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR-PR Certifications
Compensation/Benefits:

Salary Range: $15-16/hr based on experience
