The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a tamer of tweens, a champion of children and a fearless guide for after-school program staffers who work tirelessly to provide hundreds of local kiddos with care each day.

The Y’s School Age Program Director oversees the management, operations and development of multiple school-age program sites(K-5th grade)and serves assheriff for the Y’s wild world of middle and high school programming (6th-12thgrade), includingLate Start and After School Enrichment Programs, School Day-Off Programs, Teen Camps, Leader In Training program and Teen Night Out events.

You can channel your inner teenager and child, providing insights into the likes and dislikes (like, eew) of young people and ensuring our programs are fun and attractive to today’s youth. In fact, you have the experience and knowhow to effortlessly plan weeks of exceptional programming for kids and teens. You have a library of songs, games, projects and attention getters inside your brain, and you know a dozen different versions of tag. At the same time, parents love you — what can you say, it’s a natural gift — and you work diligently to earn the trust they bestow upon you.

You believe in the power of teamwork, positivity and communication, working respectfully and professionally with parents, licensors, program participants, program staff and supervisors. While you are fun (you aretotallyfun), you are able to enforce rules, train and supervise a diverse array of staff — from teenagers working their first job to retired teachers who started their careers before you were born.

Programs run before/after school hours, full days when school is out and over summer. Some night and weekend events are required. Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates program areas, ensures high-quality programs and establishes new program activities in both the before and after school programs and teen program areas.
  • Manages grants associated with teen programming. Oversees and manages the data and fiscal reporting for the grants. Attends grant-related meetings and training.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two years' experience in staff management, program development and implementation.
  • Must be Director Qualified in the state of Colorado
  • Experience in multiple site management, staff development and program development for school age children and/or teens in licensed programs.
  • Must have ability to work with a wide range of age groups, demographics and have ability to collaborate well with a number of groups and individuals
  • Ability and desire to embrace the mission of the YMCA
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary range is $36,000-$39,000 plus an additional pay differential for grant administration.
