Associate Program Director - Sports

This job is no longer available

Lafayette, CO, United States
Full-time

This position, which falls under the general supervision of the Senior Program Director for Sports, is responsible for YMCA programs and services for youth sports. As an APD-Sports, you will be responsible for several sports under the traditional sports programming umbrella.

We are looking for someone who loves all aspects of sports, especially the behind-the-scenes parts: from developing innovative, new programs to working with volunteer coaches to painting lines on a soccer field to working within the department to ensure quality programming. We are not looking for someone who needs to be on the sidelines coaching. Our future ADP won’t be running the sports clinic—but he or she will make sure the clinic runs smoothly. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about sports in general, who enjoys being in a team environment (this is sports, after all) and who doesn’t mind working a non-traditional work schedule (including nights and weekends) that fits our sports offerings. The ADP must be adaptable, solution-minded and dedicated. He or she understands the demographics and climate of the Boulder Valley (FYI: It gets cold here). Importantly, our future ADP believes in the cause—getting kids active and building a foundation for a life-long love of sports—and he or she is passionate about the administrative processes that help us make our mission a reality.

Areas of Responsibility:

Operational responsibilities include: program quality and ongoing development; hiring, training and supervising hourly and volunteer staff; budget development and management; risk and facility management, to include cleanliness of program area; community relations and support. This position will have direct fund-raising responsibilities with the Annual Support Campaign. The APD ensures operation of all programs according to agreed-upon standards and participates in Association-wide efforts in order to fulfill the operating objectives of the Association and in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors. Position is paid hourly, weekend and night shifts will be required.
