The Executive Director is responsible for administration of one Center/Branch including fiscal management, financial development and overall operation of Center/Branch in accordance with policies, procedures and standards set by the YMCA of San Diego County.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for the operation of a single Center/Branch supporting the strategic direction of the YMCA of San Diego County.
- Responsible for a balanced operation, annual budget development, monthly budget monitoring and year-end forecasts.
- Effective board development including recruitment of board members that represent the Center/Branch communities. Provides staff leadership to select Board committees.
- Leads annual support campaign and other fundraising activities to support Center/Branch.
- Responsible for overall membership and program growth.
- Effectively supervise and develop branch employees and volunteers.
- Effectively manage and develop a strong Board and Committee structure for a single Center/Branch.
- Responsible for facility management and maintenance including maintenance and equipment replacement plans.
- Represents and promotes the Y in the local community by developing strategic working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Develop strategies to build an exceptional culture and to motivate the Y’s team members and volunteers to achieve their goals.
- Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 core values.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Three to five years’ Senior Director experience or managing multiple programs and/or comparable experience.
- Multi-Team or Branch Leader Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of all aspects of operations, including effective staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, financial development, and facility management.
- Ability to effectively relate to diverse groups of people from all socioeconomic segments of the community.
- Must have ability to develop strong, positive relationships with branch volunteers, business and civic leaders, and give dynamic leadership to Board, Staff and Community.
- Requires ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment, to assess facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding day-to-day operational problems and issues.
- Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission and communities we serve.
- Ability to travel throughout San Diego County.
- Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
