Under the guidance of Sr Program Director,  the Leader, Healthy Living is responsible for the administration of all physical wellbeing  program operations of the YMCA of the Foothills. The Leaderis responsible for leading a team of staff and volunteers in carrying out the association’s strategic direction, goals, objectives, tactics and strategies as defined by the Association and the strategic plan.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Under the direction of the Sr. Program Director, the Leader, Physical Wellbeing leads and directs staff and volunteers in the implementation, and delivery of physical wellbeing programs
  • Develops member involvement opportunities for all physical wellbeing programs at two branches
  • Responds courteously and eagerly to inquires/needs by providing complete and accurate information. 
  • Take responsibility for information requests - obtaininformation and respond to inquiry within 24 hours.
  • Effectively works within the operating budget and controls program expenses as needed and required. 
  • Meets financial reporting deadlines and requirements as needed.
  • Participates in team fundraising strategies and opportunities and provide support and team leadership to the Association’s annual support campaign. 
  • Promote the Y and Healthy Living initiatives, programs, and benefits.  
  • Follows and enforces YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, emergencies, dress guidelines, and cleanliness standards.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  • Act as representative of the YMCA of the Foothills at all times.

Educational Background: 
Associates degree in a related area preferred. HS Diploma required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A current Fitness, Personal Training or Strength Training Certification is required or six (6) months related experience, certifications and demonstrated knowledge in the health and fitness field.  
    • i.e., YMCA, ACE, AFAA​, NASM or ACSM
  • Three (3) years or more experience with Healthy Living program development, implementation, and management required. 
  • At least 1 year coordinating specialty programs (e.g. aquatics, sports, recreation, etc.).
  • Ability to attract, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership.
  • Familiarity working with medical doctors, health service providers and community-based agencies preferred.
  • Must have commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required or within 90 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,500.00
