The Director of Development will oversee the YMCA of the Foothills’ efforts in major gifts, annual fund, and special events. The Director of Development will play a key role in creating a fundraising strategy that will promote long-term sustainable growth, and deepen the organization’s relationships with existing and new donors.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, non-profit management, or related area or an equivalent combination of experience and education; related graduate degree preferred.
  • Three to five (3-5) years or more experience of progressive fundraising and a proven record of successful cultivation and solicitation of major gifts. 
  • Proven track record in planning and achieving short and long-term fundraising goals, including major gifts in the six-figure range or higher.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively about engaging donors, and to develop plans of action and follow through.
  • Demonstrated experience in community relations, financial development, financial management, and volunteer development.
  • Ability to attract, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community resources and the ability to engage and partner these resources with the YMCA to meet strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, tact and diplomacy with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative and successful working relationships with volunteers, staff and all donors.
  • Must be willing and available to work evenings and weekends according to event-related scheduling and donor/prospect availability.
  • Experience working with donor management and data management systems preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Design and implement a comprehensive plan for the association, inclusive to annual giving, foundation and corporate support, and individual major and planned gifts.
  • Oversee the comprehensive calendar of activities in support of development.
  • Ensure success in events management, including cultivation activities and signature fundraising event
  • Work with the CEO, board, volunteers and staff within the organization to identify linkage, ability and interest of major gift prospects for their solicitation in alignment with the organization’s priorities
  • Support the CEO, other staff and key volunteers in their major gift efforts.
  • Staff the Development Committee of the board, providing guidance and direction to their efforts.
  • Work closely with other supporters to identify prospects and existing donors with capacity and affinity.
  • Ensure proper stewardship practices for the timely and accurate recording and acknowledgement of all gifts.
  • Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives and the mission of the YMCA.
  • Maintain ongoing and active networking with internal and external constituencies.
  • Act as representative of the YMCA of the Foothills at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00
